Dr. Carter
President
Dr. Latasha Carter started her career as an educator for Bastrop Independent School District (BISD). During her time at BISD, she created and directed the BMS College Preparatory and Greatness in Girls Program. Latasha’s passion for education and inspiring youth has been the driving force behind her professional endeavors.
In 2018, she embarked on a new journey to China, as the Elementary Principal at Wuhan Yangtze International School (WYIS). As a school administrator, she worked closely with the Leadership Development International (LDI) district school leaders across China and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and families to ensure WYIS students were provided an excellent education.
In 2020, Latasha joined educational leaders in Sumter South Carolina to become a founder of Liberty STEAM Charter School. The school’s mission is to provide a world-class education for underserved students. In her position as the Director of Advocacy and Engagement, she focused on fundraising, community partnerships, Federal grants, and the parent liaison.
In 2023, she continued the work of changing the trajectory of underserved youth and communities in the high-need area of North East San Antonio. As the Chief Development Officer of San Antonio Preparatory Charter School, she was responsible for closing the financial gaps through fundraising and community partnerships.
Latasha earned a bachelor’s in psychology, a master’s in public administration, and a doctorate in educational leadership.
Dr. Byndom
Treasurer
Dr. Samuel Byndom is an accomplished education administrator, leveraging his experience in the Army to cultivate leadership skills focused on change management, organizational culture, and knowledge management. He holds a Ph.D. in Education Policy, Organization, and Leadership from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, as well as M.A. in History and a M.A. in Teaching. With a commitment to promoting equity and social justice in education.
Dr. Byndom has also served in administrative roles including as Deputy Superintendent and as an Associate Professor. He is actively involved with several boards and committees in the community, including My Brother's Keeper, to address social inequities in education.
Dr. Byndom has published in leading peer-reviewed journals
and serves as a reviewer for Higher Education Studies. With over 15 years of experience, he continues to be a valuable contributor to the community.
Larina
Secretary
Co-Pastor Larina Mitchell a true faith believer, a worshipper, virtuous faithful servant to the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She is the loving mother and dedicated, devoted wife for over 17 years to Pastor TiJa Mitchell. As she walks alongside her husband and serves faithfully providing love and support, she efficiently helps to manage the church’s business, and is always willing to assist in any capacity.
Co-Pastor Mitchell earned two bachelor’s degrees in accounting and business Administration with a minor in Sports Management, from Indiana Tech.
Her role as a Co-Pastor Mitchell is like none other. She is a down to earth jovial and balanced woman of God. She just doesn’t sit to be waited on; she will help out wherever help is needed.
As she walks in the wisdom and favor of God, the ability to multitask in several capacities is a great asset to the ministry. As a powerful intercessory prayer warrior, Co-Pastor Mitchell was inspired to start A Fresh Start Prayer on Saturdays @ 9am. Through this ministry lives are encouraged and renewed a fresh as we pray for families, our nation, our churches, and the Kingdom of God for His will to be done.
She takes pleasure in the family structure, therefore spending time with her husband Pastor TiJa Mitchell Sr. and children LaQuesha, Jurnee, TiJa Jr, Jada and Tylan, and one grandson Princeton is a significant part of her life. She enjoys being a wife, mother and grandmother.
Alexandrea
Board Member
Alexandrea Rodriguez works as a Resident Program Coordinator for the University of the Incarnate Word. In this role Alexandrea works closely with various nonprofit agencies, healthcare facilities and assists in grant writing and coordinating.
Ms. Rodriguez is a San Antonio native and holds two bachelor degrees from the University of the Incarnate Word in Philosophy and Government.
Alexandrea has a background in nonprofit program management, grant writing, coordinating, and has sat as a liaison for Bexar Counties Elderly Abuse Taskforce.
Christopher
Board Member
Christopher Wright is a seasoned real estate agent with over 10 years of experience in the industry. He is known for his exceptional client service, attention to detail, and expertise in the local/statewide real estate market. Christopher is a native of the DFW Metroplex and has an intimate knowledge of the neighborhoods, schools, and amenities that make each community unique.
Christopher began his real estate career after his executive tenure with Wells Fargo Wholesale Banking and executive positions helping develop several family owned businesses. He quickly established himself as a top performer, earning numerous awards and accolades for his outstanding sales performance. Christopher's success is due in large part to his ability to connect with clients and understand their unique needs and preferences.
Christopher is the Founder of Royal Realty Group* Brokered By eXp Realty one of Dallas/Ft Worth’s fastest growing real estate teams. Christopher and his team’s annual initiative is helping 100 families get into 100 homes. He is also a co-founder in eXp Realty’s biggest collation of minority teams “eXp Breadwinners” and “The Committee” DFW’s upscale real estate mixer events.
Virgil
Board Member
Virgil Tolbert started his life’s mission in the United States Navy, where he served his country honorably.
Virgil Tolbert has worked in facilities and the maintenance field for 30 years.
He has managed a small business in real property for 20 years. He continues to expand his knowledge of business and operations management.
Virgil earned a bachelor’s in healthcare administration because of his passion for people and the veteran community. He has a master’s in business administration and is Lean Six Sigma trained.
TiJa
Chair Person
TiJa Mitchell Sr. is originally from Indianapolis, Indiana. He spent most of his childhood in Arlington, TX. He attended college at the University of Phoenix in Memphis, TN, where he received his bachelor’s degree in health administration and a master’s degree in business administration.
After finishing school, TiJa pursued employment in the healthcare field in 2010 where he rose to the top of his field as a Patient Access Director. TiJa entered the education field in 2019 as a Human Resource Director at San Antonio Preparatory Schools in San Antonio, TX. He is currently helping to recruit and hire passionate educated Teachers to help children get the best education they deserve.
TiJa is also the CEO/Founder of Infinity Wear, a jewelry company. He and his wife Larina Mitchell currently own and manage multiple real estate properties. TiJa is a dreamer and is known for making connections, building teams, and maintaining relationships.
On March 25, 2023, TiJa Mitchell was ordained in the ministry as a Pastor. God spoke to TiJa and told him to move forward with his ministry in which Fresh Start New Vision Ministries was birthed. TiJa is looking for great things to happen as God leads him in all things.
